Creating a mobile site for Planeterra

Today I have learned to create a mobile version of a website through Duda.

First we'll have a look on the laptop version of the site : http://racheva1.dudaone.com/

As we can see we have the upper menu with the DONATE button that does not disappear while scrolling it down.

We'll have a look now on the mobile version.

And here we have all the pages that you can scroll through on your smartphone so that you can get involved with the Planeterra Foundation.
The mobile version has all the important options and buttons such as Become a citizen of change, Donate and get involved.

Quite happy with the result and especially because I've learned a new tool to use.

Firmdale Hotels Digital Media effort

Welcome again.
Today we will be analyzing Firmdale Hotels Group digital media effort and their interaction with guests.

In order to understand better a guest's lifecycle below you'll find a chart representitive of the seven stages of this cycle.
Important to know is that all the pictures were taken while visiting the website and application on a smartphone.

We will start with the website of the group.
The website is accesible and easy to use on a smartphone therefore, more convinient for the society of today that is mostly using mobile phones to not only book but also communicate.
Firmdale Hotels Website

The website however, can be a confusing while visiting it at first sight. Nevertheless, the upper bar with the booking button is easy to be used. The first impression the group's web pages gives us is for a luxury properties offering different services such as clothing line and events organisation. The website represents the group's origin, being from UK.
It gives the guest the chance to discover a luxury properties with british touch and definetly lets them dream about a stay in one of the hotels. It is visible and easy to select the property the client might be interested in and as the book upper bar is visible and easy to use the booking process is not a burden.

We are now taking a look on their facebook page. First we can see that they have a logo that is not easily associated to a hotel brand but more to a fashion one. they have only 5 star reviews but the number of customers that left a star are not numerous, only 60. However, they have more people who liked the page, 9 243. or a group that has many properties we can say that the interaction of guests on the social media is very low. These evaluations are with comments which is a positive side. They share their stay with these positive review.

Instagram page
We can observe that they are a lot more present on their Instagram page. The group has a lot of followers and more posts which helps guests to share their experience.
YouTube channel
Their effort on YouTube is barely present. They have only 15 videos and do not even have a profile picture. Without the logo as a profile picture it is difficult to recognize the brand easily on YouTube without looking the videos they have posted.

LinkedIn profile

On the positive side they are even present on a Social media such as Linked In which helps them interact with employees and future talents easily. You have probably got acquainted with the group during a stay but their presence on this social media facilitates the interaction and conversation is another aspect beign the professional world.

Firmdale group is also very present on Twitter. With more than 4 000 posts and 4 000 likes they show themselves very active on this social media with a regular posts. They have close to 13 000 subscribers that follow  and interact them.

    Pinterest for Firmdale                                                   Tumblr posts

On Pinterest we can observe that there are many poeple and probably guests that admire the decor of the properties. And the group is very present on this social media as well publishing regular posts with high quality photos that keep people longing to visit one of the hotels.
Their Tumblr page how ever is not present. They don't have an account and have been mentionned via the hashtag only in two posts that are from 2012 as we can see it in the title.

The group is very active on Flickr which gives the oppportunity to many people to have a look and admire the personalized rooms, giving an important insight.

As a conclusion, we can say that they are more or less represented on socia media in general. They haev good interaction and possibility to interact with guests and future clients through some medias but have completely deserted some other one.
With High quality pictures and good review they complete as well stage number seven of a guest's lifecycle, being the one for them to return back and stay at one of the hotels of the group.

Footprint digital map assembling all of the group's representation on social media

Session 3 Homework

Hello you,

Did you know there is a significant differences between Linked In profile and Resume. What is important to know is basically Linked In is public and you can put all of your competencies and skills. Therefore, your profile is visible by everyone this being a positive and a negative thing. A CV is concedered to be a personalized application for a job discription. Be aware what type of data you put in your public profile so that it won't be penalizing for you while displaying unpleasant information to the public. Do not forget that an old CV can get you a long way and is not to be forgoten while looking for a job. Linked In can be a very tempting platform for you to count on while looking for a job but all the profiles are standardized and are very much alike. Take inspiration from other CVs or websites to design your resume that can attract a manager's sight.

As for myself I would love to work in an environment that helps me boost my performance and helps me to work harder and deliver better work. However, this does not need to be a highly competitive environment. As what I want to be know for, I am sure about it. I want to be the one that pushes people forward.

Sincerely yours,

The one puishing you forward ;)

Difference between Resume and Linked In profile

Hello you! Hope you're doing well.

I don't know about you, but I'm curretly looking for a job. Our discussion today takes us on a ride of a job research, i.e. we'll belooking at the differences between Linked In profile and a simple Resume. Everybody thinks that Linked in is a simple Online CV. Well, if you are being part of those everyone, you can't be more wrong. I'll explain you why.

The arrival and evolution of social media has changed the way we perceive the world and interact with it. Social media profile has become a necessity. Nowadays it is a requisite to have a Linked In profile while looking for a job. But do not count only on this, the hard copy version is still appreciated and is not to be neglected.

We shall be discussion the differences between the two of them in order to understand the usefulness of each one.
First of all, each one has a different aim. A resume is a personalized apprilication for a job whether your Linked In profile is a general overview of all of your competencies and skills. Online profile does include all of your previous experiences and a resume is a tailored for an application. Better keep your social media profile updated and then make multiple resumes to match each of your applications.

Second of all, a resume is a simple dialogue between you and a recruiter and a Linked In profile offers a possibility of multiple recruiters / headhunters and your competition to have an access to your profile. As this is a public site people can review you regarding your skills and competencies give you a note or writing you a comment. As your profile is public, be aware to not expose any private data such as age, religion, address. But its public appereance can be one of the big positive sides of this social media profile offering the possibility to any recruiter to contact you.

Then, don't count on originality on Linked In. Your profile stays basic on this social media and cannot make much difference. If you wish to put a spin on your CV and make it to stand out form the comeptetion, make it on your own, be creative or take inspiration from different templates and CVs. Be sure to have a professional photo on that is not a "facebook-like".

In France we have this unofficial understanding between candidates and recruiters that a CV must not exceed one page. Basically, managers do not spend more than ten seconds on your resume therefore better make it count. As Linked In does not have any lenght limit and this is one of the oinconvenience of the social media.

Lastly, pay attention to the keywords you use on your Linked In profile because its research techniques are not very well developped so use choose carefuly so that you have more visibility.

Hope this was helpful enough for you and now you understand the importance of each one of them.

Wishing you all the best with your research and do not forget " The sky is the limit" as long as you are passionate for it you can achieve great things.

Sincerely yours,

Happy to help you

The ChatBot experience

We are starting this discussion where we'll talk about this relatvely new trend called ChatBot. Some may not known the name of it but you have probably already encountered it while browsing.
So a ChatBot is a software robot that can interact with customers through authomated conversations in what appears a natural language. A ChatBot is using basically prepared questions and answers but with the progress of artificial intellegence there is a deeper understanding and analysis of the "conversation". A ChatBot is also called a conversational agent that could have a dialogue either using vocal or written commandes.
On social networks, ChatBots can be considered as part of a marketing strategy to impove customer service, that can offer a better customer support for before or/and after selling service. They can be used to take commandes.

So do you undestand now what a ChatBot is? It is basically here to answer your questions but cannot argue or present arguments.

The ChatBots are "à la mode", they are trending right now. We have Siri, which is like a virtual assistant for Iphone users. The most common one is using Facebook's Messenger.

We shall give two exaples for companies that use ChatBots.
First we have the example of French trailways - SNCF Voyage.

We shall see how we interact with their ChatBot below.

We can see that the ChatBot acknowledges only a simple data. To answer it takes basic key words, as in the case of trailway, the destination and the data. Therefore, it can present you an accurate response.

We can observe that even though this is a French speaking ChatBot, we can interact in English. As said previously in order to provide an accurate answer it takes only a key data. As long as we ask simple questions we can obtain reponse. But when an answer can't be found, the ChatBot tells that it is only the Beta Version as an explanation.

The second example will be taking is the one called Woebot.

Woebot is a therapy ChatBot. It is used through Facebook Messenger as an artificially intelligent chatbot that is trained in congnitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) , being the most common method used for threating depression.
By using simple conversations on a daily basis Woebot can evaluate your mental health.
This version however seems to not interact with you and does not acknowledge your questions and even offers you an answer.
